Mission Statement
The mission of Sanctuary One is to provide a refuge for animals and a healing place for people while promoting environmental stewardship.
HistorySanctuary One was spearheaded in 2006 by three individuals who shared a commitment to creating Oregon's first non-profit care farm to help
people experience the restorative benefits of caring for and interacting with animals in a natural environment. Determined to create an eco-friendly place of refuge and healing for animals, humans, and the land, founding donor Lloyd Haines, and co-founders Robert Casserly and Linda Champlin, established Sanctuary One
as a nonprofit IRS 501(c)3 corporation in 2007.
After months of site visits and due diligence, Lloyd Haines purchased Double Oak Farm in December, 2007 and began investing in property development.
In March, 2008 the Sanctuary opened its doors. Since then, the Sanctuary has taken in dozens of homeless, abused, or neglected animals, and developed partnerships with local schools and universities, human service agencies, the local business community, charitable foundations, and other affinity groups and animal rescue organizations in Oregon.
